The Railway Children is a 1970 British family drama film based on the 1906 novel of the same name by E. Nesbit. The film was directed by Lionel Jeffries and stars Dinah Sheridan, Jenny Agutter (who had earlier featured in the BBC's 1968 dramatisation of the novel), Sally Thomsett, Gary Warren and Bernard Cribbins in leading roles. The film was released to cinemas in the United Kingdom on 21 December 1970.
The film rights were bought by Jeffries. It was his directorial debut and he wrote the screenplay. The Railway Children was a critical success, both at time of release and in later years.
In The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Dorothy and friends embark on a journey to find the notorious Wizard: ruler of Oz and the man who can solve all their problems. However, as the group finally finds themselves in the Wizard’s presence, it is revealed that the “Wizard” is nothing more than a man behind a curtain.

Today, we find ourselves walking in Dorothy’s red ruby slippers. But now, the “Wizard” we look towards, the man pulling the strings, is none other than the Big Data rich.

Worth reading. Cummings is imo a good example how a bit of application and average intellect allows a poseur of a certain background to influence events. Big fish in small pond etc.
Cummings is a sort of James Dellingpole without the laughs.
For all of the irritation Cummings stirs in me personally he is right about his diagnosis of his elite ingroup hes basically a self hating elitist. For me he is a version of lucians illiterate book collector.
Anyway Cummings is a much better bell weather he is right about a lot of what he describes but does not know what it means in a context out side of his own technocratic elitism. Knowing without understanding is a dangerous delusion and ultimately humility is required to temper hubristic arrogance.
I form these views on the basis of reading cummings on subjects and writers in common with cummings and his apparent immunity to contradictions to his personal conclusions. I put this down to the basic difference between he and I both being technocrats, he believes technocrats should be in charge I believe technocrats should have advisory roles only a sort of seperation of Brains and State.
Anyway insomiac musings out.
Werner Heisenberg, Kurt Gödel, and Noam Chomsky walk into a bar. Heisenberg turns to the other two and says, “Clearly this is a joke, but how can we figure out if it’s funny or not?” Gödel replies, “We can’t know that because we’re inside the joke.” Chomsky says, “Of course it’s funny. You’re just telling it wrong.”
This is just a guess because I’ve never heard that joke before, but Chomsky is a linguist who is famous for his theory of linguistic competence. To put it on a bumper sticker, his theory holds that “performance does not equal competence”. In other words, he thinks that linguistic analysis should be concerned with the “ideal” version of language, which he distinguishes from the version actually spoken by the speakers of the language. One of his reasons for this is that the performed version of the language can include errors by the speaker that do not actually shed light on the language itself.
So in the joke, Chomsky is saying that the ideal version of the joke is funny, even if the spoken version of the joke is not. He believes that there is a distinction between an ideal competently spoken version of the joke and the actually spoken version of the joke, and that the ideal version of the joke is the “real” version.

Weekend read – Blood and Oil in the Orient: A 2023 Update
November 10, 2023Edito
from Shimshon Bichler and Jonathan Nitzan [1]
The Hamas-Israel War
The 2023 war between Hamas and Israel elicits many different explanations. As with previous regional hostilities, here too, the pundits and commentators have numerous overlapping processes to draw on – from the struggle between the Zionist and Palestinian national movements, to the deep hostility between the Rabbinate and Islamic churches, to the many conflicts between Israel and Arab/Muslim states, the contentions between the declining superpowers (United States and Russia) and their rising contenders (like China, Iran, Turkey), the rift between western and eastern cultures, and so on.
The experts also highlight the growing importance of local militias – from Jewish settler organizations, to ISIS, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, the Houthi movement, the Wagner Group and Kadyrovites Chechens – groups that operate under different political, religious and criminal guises, with varying financing and support from local, governmental and international sources to proxy and/or challenge different states. [2]
Our article does not deal with these specificities. Instead of focusing on the particular and unique, we concentrate on the general and universal. Concretely, we argue that the current war between Hamas and Israel shares an important common denominator with prior clashes in the region – namely, that it constitutes an energy conflict and that it correlates with the differential nature of capital accumulation. We coined these two terms in the late 1980s and have studied their underpinnings and implications for the Middle East and beyond ever since. [3] Our purpose in this paper is to highlight our theoretical arguments, update some of our key empirical evidence and show how both the theory and findings apply to the current Hamas-Israel war.
OPEC and the Petro Core
The late 1960s witnessed the emergence of a loose coalition between OPEC, the large oil companies, armament contractors, global construction firms and financial institutions, surrounded by shabby arms dealers, politicians, local militias, terrorist groups and media influencers – all connected, directly and indirectly, to military conflicts and energy crises in the Middle East. We labelled this alliance the ‘Weapondollar-Petrodollar Coalition’.
And here is the key point: the general conditions necessary for the spread, imposition and inflationary appreciation of intellectual property rights are opposite to those conducive to the inflation of weapon and oil prices. They require not instability, naked force and open violence, but the appearance of stability, both domestic and international, and the seeming prevalence of ‘law and order’.
In other words, the overall settings that boost one coalition tend to undermine the other – and vice versa. And since both coalitions have considerable leverage in domestic policy and international relations, it makes the conflict between them crucial for the fate of the Middle East and beyond.
And this is not a new phenomenon. The potential significance of intraclass conflicts was illustrated during the 1960s by Michael Kalecki. In his essays ‘The Fascism of Our Times’ (1964) and ‘Vietnam and U.S. Big Business’ (1967), he predicted that continued U.S. involvement in Vietnam would increase the dichotomy between the ‘old’, largely civilian business groups located mainly on the U.S. East Coast, and the ‘new’ militarized business groups, primarily the arms contractors, of the West Coast. The rise in military budgets, he anticipated, would force a redistribution of income from the old to the new groups. The ‘angry elements’ within the U.S. ruling class would then be significantly strengthened, pushing for a more aggressive foreign policy and a war economy: ‘It is a sad world indeed where the fate of all mankind depends upon the fight between two competing groups within American big business. This, however, is not quite new: many far-reaching upheavals in human history started from a cleavage at the top of the ruling class’ (Kalecki 1967: 114).
The Fascism of Our Times1 (1964)* 1. In the last few years we have noticed fervent activity among strong fascist groups in the developed capitalist countries. The most important of them are the OAS in France, the neo-Nazi elements in West Germany, and the Goldwaterites in the USA. All these groups have the following characteristics in common: a. In contrast to the Nazism of the period of the Great Depression of the 1930s, they do not resort to social demagogy. Goldwaterism even espouses the reverse ideology by criticizing government intervention and proclaiming the return to laissez-faire. b. They appeal to reactionary elements of the broad masses of the population by a variety of racist or chauvinistic slogans. For each of the countries considered these slogans can easily be condensed into one word: Algeria, revanche, Negroes. The fascist groups also proclaim the anti-communist crusade by capitalizing on a long period of official propaganda. c. The fascist elements are subsidized by the most reactionary groups of big business, which in this way usually also further their particular interests-the defence of their investments in Algeria, the expansion of certain branches of the armament industries, etc. The fascists are also supported by certain groups in the armed forces. d. However, the ruling class as a whole, even though it does not cherish the idea of fascist groups seizing power, does not make any effort to suppress them and confines itself to reprimands for overzealousness. We shall try to examine these characteristics of contemporary fascism point by point below and in this way to put them into proper perspective.
An analogous phenomenon may be observed in the USA. It seems fairly certain that after the murder of John Kennedy the government would have been able to deal a mortal blow to the right-wing extremists. But the way of conducting the inquiry, as presented in the Warren Commission report, shows the contrary tendency to evade implicating anyone but Oswald-who in the meantime has been successfully eliminated. It is in this state of lawlessness that the origin of Goldwater's candidacy may be found. In turn, this candidacy was not very firmly opposed inside the Republican Party, as it was directly controlled by big business. The behaviour of Eisenhower, who never tended to right-wing extremism, is quite significant here. Goldwater is right, at least in a sense that this is not the end of his career. For Goldwaterism is wanted by the ruling class as a pressure group against an excessive relaxation of international tensions and in order to restrain the Negro movement. Goldwater will exist not only because of the support of the 'predatory' groups of big business and the 'angry' elements of the military machine, as well as of his racist and reactionary followers, but most of all because he will be saved by those to whom he lost.

Republic of Science: Its Political and Economic Theory Michael Polanyi [This article originally appeared in Minerva 1:54-74, 1962 and is put on WWW with kind permission from Kluwer Academic Publishers (http://www.wkap.nl) and John C. Polanyi.] My title is intended to suggest that the community of scientists is organized in a way which resembles certain features of a body politic and works according to economic principles similar to those by which the production of material goods is regulated. Much of what I will have to say will be common knowledge among scientists, but I believe that it will recast the subject from a novel point of view which can both profit from and have a lesson for political and economic theory. For in the free cooperation of independent scientists we shall find a highly simplified model of a free society, which presents in isolation certain basic features of it that are more difficult to identify within the comprehensive functions of a national body. The first thing to make clear is that scientists, freely making their own choice of problems and pursuing them in the light of their own personal judgment, are in fact co-operating as members of a closely knit organization. The point can be settled by considering the opposite case where individuals are engaged in a joint task without being in any way coordinated. A group of women shelling peas work at the same task, but their individual efforts are not co-ordinated. The same is true of a team of chess players. This is shown by the fact that the total amount of peas shelled and the total number of games won will not be affected if the members of the group are isolated from each other. Consider by contrast the effect which a complete isolation of scientists would have on the progress of science. Each scientist would go on for a while developing problems derived from the information initially available to all. But these problems would soon be exhausted, and in the absence of further information about the results achieved by others, new problems of any value would cease to arise, and scientific progress would come to a standstill. This shows that the activities of scientists are in fact coordinated, and it also reveals the principle of their co-ordination. This consists in the adjustment of the efforts of each to the hitherto achieved results of the others. We may call this a coordination by mutual adjustment of independent initiatives--of initiatives which are co-ordinated because each takes into account all the other initiatives operating within the same system.
"Two Dogmas of Empiricism" is a paper by analytic philosopher Willard Van Orman Quine published in 1951. According to University of Sydney professor of philosophy Peter Godfrey-Smith, this "paper [is] sometimes regarded as the most important in all of twentieth-century philosophy".[1] The paper is an attack on two central aspects of the logical positivists' philosophy: the first being the analytic–synthetic distinction between analytic truths and synthetic truths, explained by Quine as truths grounded only in meanings and independent of facts, and truths grounded in facts; the other being reductionism, the theory that each meaningful statement gets its meaning from some logical construction of terms that refer exclusively to immediate experience.
"Two Dogmas" has six sections. The first four focus on analyticity, the last two on reductionism. There, Quine turns the focus to the logical positivists' theory of meaning. He also presents his own holistic theory of meaning.

THE ROCKEFELLER FOUNDATION’S WAR
ON CONSCIOUSNESS THROUGH THE IMPOSITION OF A=440HZ STANDARD TUNING Part 3
by
Leonard G. Horowitz, DMD, MA, MPH, DNM(hon.)
Abstract
This article details events in musical history that are central to understanding and treating modern psychopathology, social aggression, political corruption, genetic dysfunction, and cross-cultural degeneration of traditional values risking life on earth. This history concerns A=440Hz “standard tuning,” and the Rockefeller Foundation’s military commercialization of music.
Fantastic film, part of a coherent inquiry into the philosophy and corrupted odeology of Science and Scientism.
Dangerous Knowledge another classic through the Malone lens runs through a 30 year body of work which for me is a poetry in pictures commentating on the themes in Pope, Blake and Shelly.
Go, wondrous creature! mount where science guides,
Go, measure earth, weigh air, and state the tides;
Instruct the planets in what orbs to run,
Correct old time, and regulate the sun;
Go, soar with Plato to th' empyreal sphere,
To the first good, first perfect, and first fair;
Or tread the mazy round his follow'rs trod,
And quitting sense call imitating God;
As Eastern priests in giddy circles run,
And turn their heads to imitate the sun.
Go, teach Eternal Wisdom how to rule—
Then drop into thyself, and be a fool!

MEET THE FUGGERS, BREXIT, THE EURO AND CLUELESS ELITES.
Meet the Fuggers or, its the Money Power stupid.
Brexit, The Euro and clueless Elites.
The Eastern Roman empire under Justinian saw the seeds of its final fall to The Ottomans when Abd El Melik started paying tribute in Gold coinage under his own Political Branding you might say.
With all the talk of Brexit being the removal of a final obstacle to the deeper federation of a European State transcending tiresome nationalism, perhaps a little review of History, particularly Monetary history, might not be such a bad thing.
In the review of European competences carried out as a consultation by the foreign office regarding Brexit and or reform requirements of the Eu, two of the papers need to be considered in the context of the Money power argument.
The first paper considered is the Subsidiarity and proportionality aspects of the Lisbon treaty and the competences of the EU institutions vis National and regional democratic institutions. This is a trade-off between Centralised Efficiency and Local democracy.
The second trade-off is the mutually exclusive realities of either Democracy or Private Credit creation, both again are not possible you can have one or the other.
EU enlargement and The monetary union had already become a bridge too far for many British Voters by the time of the Maastricht treaty. The Lisbon was a bridge too far. to mix a metaphor, The straw that broke the camels back. The Irish The Danes, The Swedes, The Dutch pretty much most populations consulted have not given the EU zealots the right answer the first time around and the EU elite simply refused to see the point and have now simply adopted the expediency of not asking.
Two pieces of folk wisdom spring to mind.
´´QUIT WHILE YOU’RE AHEAD´´ANON.
´´If you love something, set it free; if it comes backs it’s yours, if it doesn’t, it never was ´´.

Are We at Crossed Purposes, A default setting, if we are honest with ourselves is to anticipate most of what we are going to hear? So as much as we like to think we listen, being at crossed purposes is likely far more common than we realise. Every conversation has its own unwritten small print this small print is the lens with which all anticipation and interpretation of external information gets filtered back into our deeper thoughts and are assigned their proper place in our own conceptual order of meaning to OurSelves, singularly not in any Royal We sense but sui generis to our own design between our individual self and the great cosmological static.
When we gain knowledge of the world are we experiencing it or are we thinking it? It is really a combination and a cycle between, Sleep and dreaming and Awakeness and automatic experiences External Sensing and imaginings within our thinking portal.
The eyes are the window to the soul looking in, but the soul is us looking out and acquiring physical experience of possibilities outside of our thoughtful imaginings.
our human Being is a portal that offers access to dimensions of Being and dimensions of thinking and combines the dimensions of Being and Thinking when we employ our powerful interdimensional apparatus to synthesise shareable goods or sometimes we synthesise a combination of Bads.

Over Population Paper.
Over Population is a general Term, the question can be broken down into two components;One, Over Population what is it? And, two, Overpopulation, do we have that problem ?
In these questions Kippling’s Six honest serving men will help us with both parts of the question.
What and Why and When And How and Where and Who
Overpopulation.
I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who.
I send them over land and sea,
I send them east and west;
But after they have worked for me,
I give them all a rest.
I let them rest from nine till five,
For I am busy then,
As well as breakfast, lunch, and tea,
For they are hungry men.
But different folk have different views;
I know a person small-
She keeps ten million serving-men,
Who get no rest at all!
She sends ’em abroad on her own affairs,
From the second she opens her eyes-
One million Hows, two million Wheres,
And seven million Whys!
What is Overpopulation.
Over population is a qualitative concept meaning more population than a certain amount, The Boundary at which Population is over or under is unclear.

WHO ARE ICNIRP?
The International Committee on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) are a private self appointed body or NGO who together with the Advisory Group on Non-ionising Radiation (AGNIR) and Public Health England (PHE), have somehow ended up effectively setting microwave radiation exposure ‘safety’ standards for the populations of large parts of the world since the 1990s.
In May 2011, Mr Jean Huss from the EU Committee on the Environment, Agriculture and Local and Regional Affairs in a report entitled “The potential dangers of electromagnetic fields and their effect on the environment” made the following statement on the credibility of ICNIRP.
The rapporteur underlines in this context that it is most curious, to say the least, that the applicable official threshold values for limiting the health impact of extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields and high frequency waves were drawn up and proposed to international political institutions (WHO, European Commission, governments)…
