Tenacity, beating the Panopticon Jailer Bot
Cleaning up the Enshittified mess that is the Digital Big Tech Realm. The Going Direct Mind Map
I have had a week of reflecting and re-capping here in Sweden on the marvels of Internet Enshittification. Whilst the end of the World is not nigh, the end of the current monetary arrangements is nigh, and also the old social contract is up in flames and withering away as I type this.
This is the Dawning of the new Grub Street in Exile Age of Aquarius, as we shall see the Going Direct Spring of 2024 is upon us, and whilst the distractions are many the core issue remains the same. Going Direct is a suicidal pathway to Techno Fascist Feudalism and the common themes of the new “Nobel Lie” revolve around;
Climate Change, Land Use, and Monetary Policy, The New Trifecta.
Back in May 2011 I had been living with my then Young Family Rasmus was 18 months old and Rhianon four and a half, we had moved to Sweden in April 2010 due to events dear boy events which are described in the first two posts of the Blog I started then, as a cathartic release from the turmoil in what had been my business life.
So sat here in Sweden in 2024 have things got better is the prognosis better? No, they have not and no It is not. The top ten posts on this blog which you will find at the end of this post will explain the main drivers of the current discontents.
How can a Mind Map The Going Direct Paradigm Mind Map, which of course is Digital, be an aid to navigating out of the Digital Panopticon? The answer to that is simple, the Mind Map is a tool for the user to use and is not for harvesting information and providing feedback to manipulate detected biases to divide and conquer.
“The thing that distinguishes a useful intermediary from an enshittified bully is power”
The problem, in other words, isn't intermediation – it's power. The thing that distinguishes a useful intermediary from an enshittified bully is power. Intermediaries gain power when our governments stop enforcing competition law. This lets intermediaries buy each other up and corner markets. Once they've formed cozy cartels, they can capture their regulators and commit rampant labor, privacy and consumer violations with impunity. That capture also lets them harness governments to punish smaller players that want to free workers, creators, audiences and customers from walled gardens. It also hands them a whip-hand over their workers, so that any worker who refuses to aid in these nefarious plans can be easily fired:

GUITAR AS THERAPY. MINE SAVES ME FROM THE GREEDY BANK
I have been studying guitar seriously now for a year since I moved to Sweden from the UK. I took it up in 2003 and played casually and with increased interest as the time has passed since then.
In conjunction with my increased interest in the guitar, I have also become more interested in Guitar Technology both analog and digital and my interests have climaxed in an obsession now with Hexaphonic pickups, Guitar Modelling, Amp modeling, and DSP.

I WROTE THIS TO A FRIEND BUT ITS REALLY A LETTER TO EVERYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN JUST ONE SMALL JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE
Hi Roy,
I bought quite a few copies of Maverick in a remainder shop in Greenwich and gave them to staff and clients other business associates too.
I was in the property Business I had a Residential and Commercial Estate Agency/consultancy in London Docklands and A group of development companies which I disposed of between 2000 and 2005
I built up my business from 1990 to 2000 and concentrated solely on my development and investment companies from 1997 to 2003. I always kept my teams very small and had a large extended organisation of professional advisors who were employed specifically for individual projects my intention was never to create some sort of Business Empire my sole objective was very narrow in that I wanted to solely make Money and get out. I didn’t enjoy the experience It made me very selfish and ultimately very ill although Financially it made me independent. My Business career showed me the worst of human greed in myself and also in my business partners investors and everyone who shared a place at the Trough with me it was truly a terrible experience but one that taught me quite a lot as did being one of the Rich in a world with too much poverty.
I later did a series of interviews with Roy Madron whom I wrote that Letter.
As I was saying I have had a week of reflecting and re-capping here in Sweden and the Going Direct Mindmap reminded me of this early post on my sanity-maintaining blog.
At the time I wrote this song. I videoed the first playthrough of the final arrangement on 27th April 2011.
May 11, 2011
In the description of the video, I wrote this.
A conversation about Money and Debt. I subscribe to an online blog that regularly sends Market analysis and I find the information really quite helpful to try to make sense of what is currently happening in our Economy and why. I personally believe that the current situation is worse than in 2007/2008 as the Central Banks *( Which are essentially controlled privately ( certainly the Fed) are allowing the concentration of more power into a smaller number of huge Global Banking Brands, we are asked to believe that stronger regulation and a stricter enforcement of liquidity ( Reserves(shareholder capital) to Issue of Debt money, will prevent what happened in 2007/2008. This is an over-optimistic view that remarkably the Banks seem to be selling to our governments. I am supporting an organisation called Positivemoney.org.uk they are seeking a reform of fractional reserve banking. One thing that is certain is that the 3% long-term compound growth required to keep the money supply growing to support the debt money system is impossible to support indefinitely. With stormy water ahead where economies have met their Debt ceilings the so-called PIIGS. the UK and its current Austerity measures will I believe make Margaret Thatcher’s early 1980's decimation of UK manufacturing look like afternoon tea with the Bishop. This time around there are no Unions to Blame, No Arthur Scargill only what is left of the Welfare State. The attached Analysis points to a current overvaluation in the Stockmarket another Bubble just as another tech bubble looks like it is getting going as well. Real incomes are severely squeezed and aggregate demand in the real economy is very very weak. Globalisation is doing similar damage to the UK economy that the Elitism of the Premier League football has done to the National Football team it is destroying our grassroots economy which is the tax base of the economy. I think that Positive money.org is the best thing I have come across as a vehicle to try to get some sovereign interests recognised again in British Economic policy and wanted to ask you to take a look at their message and start a discussion about these really important matters by helping each other and our wider circle of family and friends to identify and understand the importance of these issues we might be able to limit the amount of damage the coalition seem compelled toward committing on our National interests as expressed from the viewpoint of the greater majority of the population.

ON THE PRESENT DISCONTENTS, BURKE OPINED #CONQUEST OF DOUGH
“Les révolutions qui arrivent dans les grands états ne sont point un effect du hasard, ni du caprice des peuples. Rien ne révolte les grands d’un royaume comme un Gouvernoment foible et dérangé. Pour la populace, ce n’est jamais par envie d’attaquer qu’elle se soulève, mais par impatience de souffrir.” These are the words of a great man, of a Minister of State, and a zealous assertor of Monarchy. They are applied to the system of favouritism which was adopted by Henry the Third of France, and to the dreadful consequences it produced. What he says of revolutions is equally true of all great disturbances. If this presumption in favour of the subjects against the trustees of power be not the more probable, I am sure it is the more comfortable speculation, because it is more easy to change an Administration than to reform a people.

A baby is put in a playpen to keep it from getting at the matches or falling downstairs, and though the intention of the pen is to keep the baby closed in, parents are naturally proud when the child grows strong enough to climb out. Likewise, a man can perform actions which are truly moral only when he is no longer motivated by the fear of hell, that is, when he grows into union with the Good that is beyond good and evil, which, in other words, does not act from the love of rewards or the fear of punishments. This is precisely the nature of the world when it is considered as self-moving action, giving out a past instead of being motivated by a past.

AN ESSAY FROM THIS IS IT
This is the Note I made after reading Watt’s Essay above for the first time in 2011.(Added July 2019)
My reaction to this essay is one of QED, the LSD part is unfortunate as I have found those insights can come from Relaxation effectively meditation in my own case brought about from a lengthy retreat and living for my family and myself with no regard to the external influences of family friends government and economic distractions. Through reading playing music and an accepting approach to my interactions and appreciation of the Synchronous nature of the cosmos has led me to the concept of cosmogony, rather than cosmology. Spiritualism, rather than atheism.
I have also considered that some of this spiritualised realisation stuff is almost oligopolistically hoarded by vested interests to promote counter-culture cults of exclusion of those who can’t know and have not taken of the forbidden fruit
These realisations in controlled environments may allow people to access the spiritual constructs mentioned in the essay what I want to contrast this is the eulogy of
“When I was a child I walked as a child the time to turn away from childish things”
The jockeying for control in the symbolism and its institutionalisation and Legalisation or criminalisation are all concepts outside of the natural self. Means to become self-sufficient in thought and deed and providing our daily bread are resisted by the apparatus of control in so-called civilisation society constructs its own apparatus the mythologising etc binds grouped together and sets them apart and against each other.

“Why scurry about looking for the truth? It vibrates in every thing
and every not-thing,
right off the tip of your nose.
Can you be still and see it in the mountain?
the pine tree?
yourself?
Don’t imagine that you’ll discover it
by accumulating more knowledge.
Knowledge creates doubt, and doubt
makes you ravenous for more knowledge.
You can’t get full eating this way.
The wise person dines on something more subtle:
He eats the understanding that the named was born
from the unnamed,
that all being flows from non- being,
that the describable world emanates
from an indescribable source.
He finds this subtle truth inside his own self,
and becomes completely content.
So who can be still
and watch the chess game of the world?
The foolish are always making impulsive moves,
but the wise know that victory and defeat
are decided by something more subtle.
They see that something perfect exists
before any move is made.
This subtle perfection deteriorates
when artificial actions are taken, so be content
not to disturb the peace.
Remain quiet.
Discover the harmony in your own being.
Embrace it.
If you can do this, you will gain everything,
and the world will become healthy again.
If you can’t, you will be lost in the shadows forever.”

I have developed an interest in Semiotics, Semantics, and Etymology. I am also interested in the parallels between the allegorical mythology of the ancients to modern religion and tribalism. TENACITY
n. A certain quality of the human hand in its relation to the coin of the realm. It attains its highest development in the hand of authority and is considered a serviceable equipment for a career in politics. The following illustrative lines were written of a Californian gentleman in high political preferment, who has passed to his accounting:
Of such tenacity his grip
That nothing from his hand can slip.
Well-buttered eels you may o'erwhelm
In tubs of liquid slippery-elm
In vain -- from his detaining pinch
They cannot struggle half an inch!
'Tis lucky that he so is planned
That breath he draws not with his hand,
For if he did, so great his greed
He'd draw his last with eager speed.
Nay, that were well, you say. Not so
He'd draw but never let it go!

APHORISM
n. Predigested wisdom.
The flabby wine-skin of his brain
Yields to some pathologic strain,
And voids from its unstored abysm
The driblet of an aphorism.

The Unstoppable Momentum of Outdated Science: 2024 Update
Much of climate research and policy is still based on implausible scenarios. Implementing a course correction is well overdue.
Occasionally, I’ll revisit some old posts to provide updates and also to introduce the many new subscribers at THB to things they may have missed. The original 2020 post that I revisit today — The Unstoppable Momentum of Outdated Science — is one of the most read posts ever at THB. Below I update it to 2024. Sadly, it’s central argument remains very much current. The post describes how the very extreme climate scenario (called RCP8.5, backstory here) continues to dominate climate research, despite being outdated and misleading. We knew that in 2020. In 2024, even though the climate community well knows that RCP8.5 is outdated and misleading, peer-reviewed studies using the scenario continue to be published at a rate of ~25 per day. Some of these studies are promoted by climate advocates and the media, and just last week the Biden Administration relied on RCP8.5 to justify its LNG export pause. In the original version of the article below, I lamented that there were in 2020 some 17,000+ RCP8.5 studies in the literature. Today that number sits at more than 45,000 — unstoppable momentum indeed!

Motivation? Cause and effect?
Quantum mechanics, also known as quantum physics or quantum theory, is a branch of physics providing a mathematical description of the dual particle-like and wave-like behaviour and interaction of matter and energy. Quantum mechanics describes the time evolution of physical systems via a mathematical structure called the wave function. The wave function encapsulates the probability that the system is to be found in a given state at a given time. Quantum mechanics also allows one to calculate the effect on the system of making measurements of properties of the system by defining the effect of those measurements on the wave function. This leads to the well-known uncertainty principle as well as the enduring debate over the role of the experimenter, epitomised in the Schrödinger’s Cat thought experiment.
Signal processing
In the context of signal processing, particularly time–frequency analysis, uncertainty principles are referred to as the Gabor limit, after Dennis Gabor, or sometimes the Heisenberg–Gabor limit. The basic result, which follows from Benedicks’s theorem, below, is that a function cannot be both time-limited and band-limited (a function and its Fourier transform cannot both have a bounded domain) – see bandlimited versus time-limited. Stated alternatively, “one cannot simultaneously localize a signal (function) in both the time domain (ƒ) and frequency domain (Fourier transform)”. When applied to filters, the result is that one cannot achieve high temporal resolution and frequency resolution at the same time; a concrete example are the resolution issues of the short-time Fourier transform – if one uses a wide window, one achieves good frequency resolution at the cost of temporal resolution, while a narrow window has the opposite trade-off.
Alternative theorems give more precise quantitative results, and in time–frequency analysis, rather than interpreting the (1-dimensional) time and frequency domains separately, one instead interprets the limit as a lower limit on the support of a function in the (2-dimensional) time–frequency plane. In practice the Gabor limit limits the simultaneous time–frequency resolution one can achieve without interference; it is possible to achieve higher resolution, but at the cost of different components of the signal interfering with each other.
One of Jung’s favourite quotes on synchronicity was from Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll, in which the White Queen says to Alice:
“It’s a poor sort of memory that only works backwards”.[9][10]
‘It’s very good jam,’ said the Queen.
‘Well, I don’t want any TO-DAY, at any rate.’
‘You couldn’t have it if you DID want it,’ the Queen said. ‘The rule is, jam to-morrow and jam yesterday–but never jam to-day.’
‘It MUST come sometimes to “jam to-day,”‘ Alice objected.
‘No, it can’t,’ said the Queen. ‘It’s jam every OTHER day: to-day isn’t any OTHER day, you know.’
‘I don’t understand you,’ said Alice. ‘It’s dreadfully confusing!’
‘That’s the effect of living backwards,’ the Queen said kindly: ‘it always makes one a little giddy at first–‘
‘Living backwards!’ Alice repeated in great astonishment. ‘I never heard of such a thing!’
‘–but there’s one great advantage in it, that one’s memory works both ways.’
‘I’m sure MINE only works one way,’ Alice remarked. ‘I can’t remember things before they happen.’
‘It’s a poor sort of memory that only works backwards,’ the Queen remarked.
Criticism
Among some psychologists, Jung’s works, such as The Interpretation of Nature and the Psyche, were received as problematic. Fritz Levi, in his 1952 review in Neue Schweizer Rundschau (New Swiss Observations), critiqued Jung’s theory of synchronicity as vague in determinability of synchronistic events, saying that Jung never specifically explained his rejection of “magic causality” to which such an acausal principle as synchronicity would be related. He also questioned the theory’s usefulness.[14]
A possible explanation for Jung’s perception that the laws of probability seemed to be violated with some coincidences[15] can be seen in Littlewood’s law.
In psychology and cognitive science, confirmation bias is a tendency to search for or interpret new information in a way that confirms one’s preconceptions and avoids information and interpretations that contradict prior beliefs. It is a type of cognitive bias and represents an error of inductive inference, or as a form of selection bias toward confirmation of the hypothesis under study or disconfirmation of an alternative hypothesis. Confirmation bias is of interest in the teaching of critical thinking, as the skill is misused if rigorous critical scrutiny is applied only to evidence challenging a preconceived idea but not to evidence supporting it.[16]

Wu wei, literally “non-action” or “not acting”, is a central concept of the Daodejing. The concept of wu wei is very complex and reflected in the words’ multiple meanings, even in English translation; it can mean “not doing anything”, “not forcing”, “not acting” in the theatrical sense, “creating nothingness”, “acting spontaneously”, and “flowing with the moment.”[24]
It is a concept used to explain ziran, or harmony with the Dao. It includes the concepts that value distinctions are ideological and seeing ambition of all sorts as originating from the same source. Laozi used the term broadly with simplicity and humility as key virtues, often in contrast to selfish action. On a political level, it means avoiding such circumstances as war, harsh laws and heavy taxes. Some Taoists see a connection between wu wei and esoteric practices, such as the “sitting in oblivion” (emptying the mind of bodily awareness and thought) found in the Zhuangzi.[23]

Worldview
In several of his later publications, especially Beyond Theology and The Book on the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are, Watts put forward a worldview, drawing on Hinduism, Chinese philosophy, pantheism, and modern science, in which he maintains that the whole universe consists of a cosmic self playing hide-and-seek (Lila), hiding from itself (Maya) by becoming all the living and non-living things in the universe, forgetting what it really is; the upshot being that we are all IT in disguise. In this worldview, Watts asserts that our conception of ourself as an “ego in a bag of skin” is a myth; the entities we call the separate “things” are merely processes of the whole.
Watts lived with his wife Mary Jane in Sausalito, California in the mid-60s.[20] He lived his later years at times on a houseboat in Sausalito and at times in a secluded cabin on Mount Tamalpais. Laden with social and financial responsibilities, he struggled increasingly with alcohol addiction, which may have contributed to his premature death.[21]
In October 1973, Watts returned from an exhausting European lecture tour. He died of heart failure in his sleep at his home on Mt. Tamalpais the following month, at the age of 58.
