BOURGEOIS RESOLUTION. A POEM IN THREE VOICES FOR ADDED 4TH PART HARMONY.
I wrote this poem back in 2016, its part of a trilogy all of which are appenices to my experimental novel The Conquest of Dough.
This poem is about the pedagogy of the oppressed it represents all that I have come to understand about representative democracy and the disjoint between Power, Power relations and Political Power. Politicians claiming Democratic objectives in the interests of the Constituents of the communities they represent but actually patronize. This is the Tension between Elites from Grande Bourgeois to Petit Bourgeoise and their aversion to all forms of popular expressions of solidarity by the Working Class. Anything outside the boundaries set by the Bourgeoisie sensibilities and aesthetic mores of the Political and Chattering classes is deemed vulgar and viscous in the Vice full sense.
As with the revolution, the resolution will be Live.
We interrupt your discord to bring you this resolution

My essay "Why are we here?" is a thought-provoking exploration prompted by David Malone's documentary series,of the same name. The essay delves into the four films in the series, namely "Meaning Seeking Beings," "The Reality of Ideas," "The Animal Within," and "The Moral Compass." It also delves into the complexities of existence, the pursuit of knowledge, and the interplay between science, philosophy, and ethics.
Sometimes one can not but reflect on the fundamental question of human existence and the quest for meaning. We must express a genuine curiosity about the purpose of life and the nature of our existence. It is unavoidable to also touch upon the limitations of human understanding and the vastness of the unknown, forcing one into acknowledging that universals escape our imagination and perception.
The interplay between science and philosophy poses questions of whether the scientific method or art is more effective in communicating the essence of the unknown or immeasurable. If one contemplates the coexistence of materialism and idealism, it can be helpful to reject the notion that they are mutually exclusive and advocate for a broader perspective that transcends traditional dichotomies.
Ethical considerations in both scientific and religious inquiries highlight the importance of ethical frameworks in shaping human behavior and decision-making, emphasizing the pursuit of virtue for the general well-being of society.
The role of tradition and authority in shaping knowledge systems draws on historical and philosophical perspectives to underscore the complex interplay between tradition, belief, and inquiry. philosophical thinkers, such as Michel Foucault, Neal Donald Walsh, and C.S. Pierce, enrich our arguments and provide a comprehensive examination of epistemological and ethical considerations.
The impact of urbanization on evolution and ecosystem function, linking scientific inquiry to broader societal implications underscores the need for humility and context in scientific education. Recent elite hubris should serve as a caution against propagandistic approaches in both science and religion.
A pause for profound reflection on the complexities of human existence, the pursuit of knowledge, and the ethical considerations can underpin both scientific and religious inquiries. I would encourage readers to embrace a holistic perspective that transcends traditional boundaries, fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between science, philosophy, ethics, and human experience.

Are We at Crossed Purposes, A default setting, if we are honest with ourselves is to anticipate most of what we are going to hear? So as much as we like to think we listen, being at crossed purposes is likely far more common than we realise. Every conversation has its own unwritten small print this small print is the lens with which all anticipation and interpretation of external information gets filtered back into our deeper thoughts and are assigned their proper place in our own conceptual order of meaning to OurSelves, singularly not in any Royal We sense but sui generis to our own design between our individual self and the great cosmological static.
When we gain knowledge of the world are we experiencing it or are we thinking it? It is really a combination and a cycle between, Sleep and dreaming and Awakeness and automatic experiences External Sensing and imaginings within our thinking portal.
The eyes are the window to the soul looking in, but the soul is us looking out and acquiring physical experience of possibilities outside of our thoughtful imaginings.
our human Being is a portal that offers access to dimensions of Being and dimensions of thinking and combines the dimensions of Being and Thinking when we employ our powerful interdimensional apparatus to synthesise shareable goods or sometimes we synthesise a combination of Bads.
When we discover the truth everyone will not be a winner, one can think of many situations and states of affairs which should the truth be honoured, then some group or collection of powerful interests may lose some previously justified privilege. This essayical melange is not though, about the defense of the indefensible it is about making our wishes clear, stating our opinions clearly and honestly and seeking agreement. Agreement to disagree is a much preferable outcome to an enduring resentment against those with whom we differ, about some matter or state of affairs.

First printed for the family in 1985, I remember my sister Suzanne typing early drafts which were sent back and forth from Oxfordshire to Talbot Green. My Cousin Russel mentioned one evening when we met for a drink in Clifton Village Bristol in summer 2022 that he had a copy of Grampy's book. I read a chapter aloud later that evening, and was transported back to long evenings sat at the dining table with Nanny listening to the Television and Grampy and Dad chatting away with a glass of Worthington's pale ale, from the ration still sent every month from the brewery.
Written 40 years ago now I wonder what Grampy would make of the present discontents.
I am sure he and those of his generation including my maternal grandfather Llewellyn Harrison would be horrified that having nuetralised the worse excesses of one "Owning Class" it would appear that the country is now in the grip of an Owning Class much worse than their forebears.
I thought I should re typeset and include Grampy's memoir as part of the collection of the Going Direct Spring 2024 trilogy.

THE THIRD PHILLIPIC AND DONALD TRUMPS IRAN DEAL WITHDRAWAL. WHERE IS DEMONTHESES WHEN WE NEED HIM?
Donald Trump and other village idiots of the Washington Clown Consensus, Macron, May, Johnson et-al require some rebuttal, some stern scolding and above all proper ridicule. The Fourth estate of corporate Media has demonstrably proved lacking in fulfilling the task so here I cast Demosthenes and his Third Phillipic as our Orator. But first let us hear Lucian offer up some words in Support of the Idiot Tyrant. ‘I found the city in a ruinous condition, owing to the neglect of the magistrates, who had commonly been guilty of embezzlement, if not of wholesale plunder. I repaired the evil by means of aqueducts, beautified the city with noble buildings, and surrounded it with walls. The public revenues were easily increased by proper attention on the part of the fiscal authorities. I provided for the education of the young and the maintenance of the old; and for the general public I had games and spectacles, banquets and doles. As for rape and seduction, tyrannical violence or intimidation, I abhorred the very name of such things. https://lucianofsamosata.info/PhalarisI.html PHILIPPIC From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This article needs additional citations for verification. Diocletian's Problem-Reaction-Solution
A further example of how elites throughout history commit acts of terrorism as a pretext to create enemies and corral populations behind a tyrannical agenda
By Paul Joseph Watson
The Roman Emperor Diocletian came to power in 284 AD. He was an army general with a repressive disdain of his 'subjects.' Diocletian ran his government as a general runs an army, giving orders and expecting them to be carried out. He believed that only severe restrictions on personal freedoms could bring order to the empire. By 301 AD, after the conclusion of conflicts with the Germans and the Sassanids, Diocletian needed a new enemy to justify his tyrannical form of government. At the same time, the Emperor declared the economy to be in crisis and implemented astronomical taxation increases. Amongst the people there surfaced a gradual unrest towards Diocletian'seconomic policy. The Emperor needed a new enemy to regain the support of his pseudo-slaves. After the earlier successful persecution of the Manichaeans, Diocletian slowly turned his head in the direction of the Christians, and his thumb was pointing down. This, despite the fact that he had largely ignored them for the past 15 years. Across the empire, Christians made up around ten percent of the population -- their number having doubled in about fifty years. Two kings had been converted: the king of Osroene in north eastern Mesopotamia and the king of Armenia. Christians were serving in Rome's armies, and they were working as civil servants in local government or in lowly positions on the imperial staff. Diocletian could see his scapegoat.
In the autumn of 302 AD Diocletian visited Antioch in Syria for an official engagement. Prior to this of course, there had to take place the customary Pagan sacrifice. But you see this time there was a problem. As the bloodletting ritual began, there came the vocal denouncements of the on looking Christians. Many made cross signs to ward off the evil influence of the sacrifice. Prominent amongst these brave dissenters was a Christian named Romanus. Diocletian fumed. " . . . In the first, while Diocletian was sacrificing in public, the chief interpreter of the victims' organs reported that he could not read the future in them because of the hostile influence of Christians standing around. Diocletian burst into a rage, insisting that all in his court should offer sacrifice, and sent out orders to his army to follow suit." (Ramsey MacMullen, Constantine, p.24).
Brave Christians vehemently decried blood-curdling Pagan sacrifices made in the name of the god of Jupiter, to whom Diocletian proclaimed himself the earthly representative of Rome.This provided Diocletian with the perfect opportunity to launch his persecution and Romanus had his tongue cut off and languished in agony for over a year after in jail. Meanwhile, the Emperor demanded the Christians sacrifice to the gods of the state or face execution. Many refused and further retreated underground in the hope of avoiding the manic dictates of this mad general.
Diocletian's vice-emperor, Galerius, didn't have a hard time in persuading him that if a Palace were just to burn down, Diocletian could really accelerate his crusade against the Christians. Just by coincidence, twice within sixteen days toward the end of February, Diocletian's palace in Nicomedia burned. The Christians were immediately blamed.
The Emperor needed a crisis to put the purge of the Christians into overdrive. This was accomplished when he had his guards set fire to his own palace in Nicomedia on two different occasions at the end of February, 303 AD. A crushing set of edicts then followed as the Christians were blamed for the blaze.

Chestertons Fence: Don’t Destroy What You Don’t Understand!
Posted OnJune 1, 2023 By Jonas Koblin
Chesterton’s Fence is a simple rule of thumb that suggests you should never destroy a fence, change a rule, or alter a tradition if you do not understand why it was created in the first place. China’s Four Pests Campaign during the Great Leap Forward shows the tragic consequences of meddling with things we do not fully understand.
THE FULL STORY
Suppose there is a fence erected in the middle of nowhere that’s blocking your path: what do you do? Do you take it down in order to continue on your way? Or do you first think hard about why it is there to begin with?

Everyone from every focus that follows The Slog – 1950s-born women, the politically aware, financial market investors, economists, media villagers, Brexiteers, cultural philosophers and satire lovers – should give the content that follows some thought. You may agree with very little or only some of it; and you may think it alarmist and probably heretically maverick. But to ignore it is to stand a good chance of losing everything. The general outcome is hard to doubt: a steady recruitment by Alt States everywhere (led by the United States) means that central bankers, ISPs, large media combines, debt holders, bourse deregulators, diplomats, civil police forces, energy marketeers, politicians and vast percentages of the upper bureaucratic pyramid are batting for Them, not You.

Discussion continued over on Steve Keens Patreon Page and Bill Mitchell also Blogged his own thoughts on his Blog. There are two aspects to MMT as I see it. The IS side where the Theory sets out to describe modern Money mechanics, that is the sectoral Balances description of how the accounting identity balances to zero. The Other part of the MMT school of thought is the Ought side. In the Ought side of any theoretical analysis of any system one necessarily leaves the IS empirical facts and puts forward what Ought to be. MMT’rs Like Bill Mitchell say there Ought to be a goal of Full employment and a Job Guarantee is seen as preferable to say a Universal Basic Income. David Hume wrote extensively about the Is-Ought problem and the arguments between Monetary reformers seem to fall into the Ought Camp where IS questions are disputed this tends to be where the IS facts do not fit with the Ought convictions/beliefs. The Aspect of the debate which is potentially the most helpful is seeing matters in terms of Resources and allocation of resources to production of wants and needs in this question the pathfinders are somewhat more scarce. Dr Tim Morgan and His Surplus Energy Economics Blog deserves looking at for anyone interesting in this way of Analysing the real energy costs of Investment, Embodied energy questions and future production possibilities outside fo the P&L double entry bookkeeping monetary/Fiscal paradigm. https://surplusenergyeconomics.wordpress.com/2018/05/ Steve Keen has started exploring Entropy in Economics and made this podcast from Nov 2016.

The national debt has, in fact, made more men rich than have a right to be so, or, rather, any ultimate power, in case of a struggle, of actualizing their riches. It is, in effect, like an ordinary, where three hundred tickets have been distributed, but where there is, in truth, room only for one hundred. So long as you can amuse the company with any thing else, or make them come in successively, all is well, and the whole three hundred fancy themselves sure of a dinner; but if any suspicion of a hoax should arise, and they were all to rush into the room at once, there would be two hundred without a potato for their money; and the table would be occupied by the landholders, who live on the spot.

Look at Podemos in Spain, there was a great deal of hope that they represented something different and they came from no where to win 5 seats in the EU Parliament and ended up jointly governing in Spain with the PSOE during the Covid years. Spain was one of the most tyrannical implementers of the covid policies, imprisoning their populations for 8 weeks in the first lockdown with no escape from often tiny flats not even for exercise, children weren’t let out at all, armed police at the exit and entrance to villages, truly awful, all this was implemented by the “left” socialists even though the constitution supposedly protected the rights of the individual against such tyranny! The “democratic” model is broken and not fit for purpose.

Hi Sofia,
Yes Podemas and Syrzia in Greece, I would also argue the Green Party, the Occupy movement and the positive money campaign all infiltrated or corrupted. Do we just roll over?
I happen to believe that Direct Democracy can work if we work at it within our communities.
The route to a direct democracy is always unchartered territory and where things lead assuming an accomodation between factions is achieved is of course unknowable.
You could argue and convincingly that there are no grounds for optomism , I would not dismiss such a position, I would though counter with this poem by Colerige.
Work Without Hope.
WORK WITHOUT HOPE
Work Without Hope
All Nature seems at work.
Slugs leave their lair-
The bees are stirring-birds are on the wing-
And Winter slumbering in the open air,
Wears on his smiling face a dream of Spring!
And I the while, the sole unbusy thing,
Nor honey make, nor pair, nor build, nor sing.
Yet well I ken the banks where amaranths blow,
Have traced the fount whence streams of nectar flow.
Bloom, O ye amaranths! bloom for whom ye may,
For me ye bloom not! Glide, rich streams, away!
With lips unbrightened, wreathless brow, I stroll:
And would you learn the spells that drowse my soul?
Work without Hope draws nectar in a sieve,
And Hope without an object cannot live.

“Why scurry about looking for the truth?
It vibrates in every thing
and every not-thing,
right off the tip of your nose.
Can you be still and see it in the mountain?
the pine tree?
yourself?
Don’t imagine that you’ll discover it
by accumulating more knowledge.
Knowledge creates doubt, and doubt
makes you ravenous for more knowledge.
You can’t get full eating this way.
The wise person dines on something more subtle:
He eats the understanding that the named was born
from the unnamed,
that all being flows from non- being,
that the describable world emanates
from an indescribable source.
He finds this subtle truth inside his own self,
and becomes completely content.
So who can be still
and watch the chess game of the world?
The foolish are always making impulsive moves,
but the wise know that victory and defeat
are decided by something more subtle.
They see that something perfect exists
before any move is made.
This subtle perfection deteriorates
when artificial actions are taken, so be content
not to disturb the peace.
Remain quiet.
Discover the harmony in your own being.
Embrace it.
If you can do this, you will gain everything,
and the world will become healthy again.
If you can’t, you will be lost in the shadows forever.”

For those who are wary of ethical judgments that seem to contain woolly thought, Hume's Guillotine cuts through moral pronouncements involving the words "is" and "ought."
How naturally people say "x is the case and therefore we ought to do y," when this seamless progression from "is" to "ought" has no actual logical tie. The planet is getting hotter, we ought to get rid of our cars. Your protests disrupt my everyday life, you ought to be behind bars. You're a successful businessman, we ought to tax you more. I'm a successful businessman, I ought to go offshore.
However impassioned the speaker, however fierce the plea, in the leap from "is" to "ought," no connection has been made. "Your country is now at war, therefore you ought to fight," may not be as morally obvious as it seems to be at first sight.
However true, no statement of fact is in itself an argument to act. From life or death decisions to casual conversation, Hume's Guillotine separates fact from an idly induced obligation. Between "is" and "ought," we need to hear more than one simple word like "so" or "therefore." You can bring more facts to the table when building an ethical case, but the deeper a moral discussion goes, the more we have to face our background, our feelings, old habits, assumptions—all of them have their place.
Hume's Guillotine, or the "is-ought" problem, reminds us that human morality is rooted in custom, emotion, and instinct more often than pure rationality.
And Desiderata a poem which I read many years ago in the study of a freind.
Desiderata - Words for Life
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
— Max Ehrmann, 1927
I would just round off with two quotes one from Paulo Friere.
“The more radical the person is, the more fully he or she enters into reality so that, knowing it better, he or she can transform it. This individual is not afraid to confront, to listen, to see the world unveiled. This person is not afraid to meet the people or to enter into a dialogue with them. This person does not consider himself or herself the proprietor of history or of all people, or the liberator of the oppressed; but he or she does commit himself or herself, within history, to fight at their side.”
― Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed
And this from Epictetus and his Enchideron.

The shouting has not stopped after the result the obviscation and manipulation in opposition to reason continues unabated.
42. When any person harms you, or speaks badly of you, remember that he acts or speaks from a supposition of its being his duty. Now, it is not possible that he should follow what appears right to you, but what appears so to himself. Therefore, if he judges from a wrong appearance, he is the person hurt, since he too is the person deceived. For if anyone should suppose a true proposition to be false, the proposition is not hurt, but he who is deceived about it. Setting out, then, from these principles, you will meekly bear a person who reviles you, for you will say upon every occasion, “It seemed so to him.”
